The Marugg Scythe Package

from $215.00

Marugg Scythes have been custom made in Tracy City, Tennessee since 1873. A strong Tennessee hickory snath (the main handle) compliments an Austrian blade for a lightweight and durable tool. Snaths are custom made to fit your height and arm length. Please fill out that information in the personalization section below. This listing is for a full scythe outfit with a snath, blade and a sharpening stone with plastic holder.

Grass and brush blades of various lengths are available as well as post horn blades.

Grass blades are light and hold a good edge for cutting grasses and non-woody weeds with up to a 1/4 inch diameter stem. They can cut larger weeds but you are more likely to nick the blade if you cut woody materials.

Brush blades are useful for clearing larger weeds and small woody stemmed plants up to an inch in diameter. These blades do not work as well for cutting fine grasses.

Post horn blades are used for clearing large weeds including woody stems up to 2 inches (if you have the strength to swing it). These blades come with an optional blade hook attachment for hooking and pulling stems. They do not work well for fine grasses.
